When China’s richest e-commerce entrepreneur decided to donate more than $2.8 billion worth of shares to charity, the rest of the world took notice. China has recently focused on a social equity initiative that has seen the wealthiest among the nation’s earners turn to philanthropic outreach to help balance the scales.

Liu Qiangdong was given the opportunity to announce the large donation by President Xi Jinping via his common prosperity measure in order to close the wealth gap.

The social outreach and philanthropic initiatives put in place by Liu Qiangdong recently have only underscored the importance of corporate responsibility in today’s day and age.

Liu Qiangdong, international philanthropist who is also an e-commerce titan with JD.com gives back to those in similar situations. Liu, alongside others like Xiaomi and Alibaba Group has given more than $2.28 Billion in shares to charity through JD.com.

While philanthropy is important to Liu as well as the people of JD.com, it isn’t his sole focus. Liu Qiangdong focuses on creating an environmentally friendly and better business.

Technology giant for a better future. JD.com’s new mission statement read, “Powered by technology for a more productive and sustainable world.”

JD.com, aside from its efforts to raise funds for green causes recently, has been focusing on helping farmers and supporting other agricultural developments across the nation. JD.com’s efforts to reach new markets have resulted in more than 300,000. The vast majority of these jobs are located centrally in rural areas.
